A whole new social bookmarks page.

I’ve been meaning to clean up some things around here for a while and finally have one done! The new social bookmarks page is up!

The new pages includes many more social bookmarking sites, a cleaned up layout and smaller icons.

Hopefully everyone likes it!

New Hosting

Creators Fixed!

For a while there, the Social Bookmark Creator and Chicklet Creators were broken. Not sure when that happened, but they are all fixed and back in working order!

Finally, I’ve taken a bit of time and updated the Google button along with a few other items around here. Some buttons added, a few removed. WordPress upgraded, spam protection added to the form and some housekeeping items.

It’s been quite a while since I posted anything to the iFeedReaders news blog and that’s not a bad thing. Our service was meant to be one that didn’t require lots of frequent updates. I’ve added any user submitted services and things have just been chugging along.

The Subscribe and Bookmark pages are working well and no big enhancements are on the horizon.

If there is something you’d like to see here, just let us know!

Tumblr and Uvouch Social Bookmark Buttons Added

Two new buttons have been added to the social bookmark page: Tumblr & Uvouch.

Tumblr is a cross between blogging and social bookmarking. You can easily add text, video pictures and more to any page with the click of a button. Think blogging, or slimmed down with no real maintenance.

Uvouch is a social site to save links and videos. Kind reminds me of YouTube with a few more features.

If you add an iFeedReaders social bookmark button to your site, you can give your visitors instant access to all the options on the social bookmark page. Or, add the bookmarklet to your browser to give you instant access to the social bookmark options from any page you browse to.

Updated Subscribe Page – Yea!

I’ve finally gotten around to getting the subscribe page up to par with the bookmark page. Now, all buttons are in a database and it’s really easy for me to add new buttons or remove broken ones. Actually, really easy for you to add services. Just go over to http://www.ifeedreaders.com/addMe.php and fill out the simple form. It’ll go into the database and when I check it out, then it’ll go live. Simple and sweet.

Now, I just need to get a few more tools tied into this database. But that’s a project for another day.

Updated Bookmarks Page

The new an improved bookmarks page is now live. This version includes a few button additions including NShout, Squidoo and Suttle to name a few.

The best part about the new bookmarks page as it’s driven by a database. With everything in a database, I’ll be able to pull it out in to the social bookmark creator tool. But that’s a project for another day.

It also allows anyone to quickly add social bookmark services. Any services added though the ‘Add Service‘ form automatically get put into a database, but not made live. Then I go in and just have to approve them. All the code is already written to display the buttons and it should help keep the bookmarks page fresher.

If you are using one of the iFeedReaders bookmark buttons, you automatically get to take advantage of the new bookmark page. If you don’t have a button, consider grabbing one.

Big Red Update Buttons

A lot of you may notice that you are now seeing some big red update buttons. It’s unfortunate that we have to do this, but if you see the image, then the site you are reading has images that are hosted on twistermc.com. What you’ll need to do is either host the images yourself or find a way to outsource them.

The problem is that there are thousands of hits an hour to twistermc.com for the images and that’s taking a major tool on the server. Either we have to pay much higher hosting rates for that site or we have to force users to update. Since the feed buttons are a free service, extra hosting costs are not something that can be dealt with easily.

Please, take a few minutes and re-create ALL your feed button images to ensure that none of them are linking back to twistermc.com.

For those that don’t update their buttons, the red image will grow, possibly daily, until it can’t be ignored. I hate to do it, but I don’t really have any other choice at this time.

Changed Servers

In order to provide better services, we have changed servers. Ok, Dreamhost did it for me as they noticed that there were issues. I noticed that this site was down more than I wanted but really it’s due to the popularity.

So servers were switched and hopefully that makes things a bit more reliable.

Thanks Dreamhost for noticing the issue and fixing it.
