New ‘Add Service’ Form Live

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

After my post yesterday, I started coding the new Add Service form that I had dreamed up a while back. I didn’t think it could be that hard so I put my mind to it and had the database built in no time. Then the rest of the code fell into place. About 24 hours later, the new Add Service page is live!

So what’s new you ask? Well I came to learn quite quickly that I suck at keeping all the new feed and bookmark requests up to date. Everyone wants their service added and I just don’t have time to do code them all in. So I thought why not let you do the work for me. :)

With the new add service format, not much changes for the submitter. You can easily add your site, or your favorite site, to iFeedReaders by filling out the simple form. It then goes into a database and awaits my approval. Once I approve it, it’ll make up the new Bookmark or Subscribe page that I have yet to complete.

With the new format, I will theoretically have to just approve services instead of code them in. Thus making the process faster and us happier.

However, there is a downside. I have to convert everything over. So far I have four social bookmark services done and one feed button. So I have a bit of work ahead of me. But it’ll be nice when it’s all done.

Test out the new Add Services form and see what you think. Feel free to add any services too. :)

So, what’s going on?

Monday, February 19th, 2007

Ohh it’s been quite at iFeedReaders for a while.  I have plans on making updates but they are not coming along very fast.  The good news is, the site still works great even without regular updates. :)

iFeedReaders is Moving Hosts

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

Not that the users should notice, but in the upcoming days iFeedReaders.com is moving to Dreamhost hosting. If you get any errors that’d be why. I’m going to try and make it as smooth as possible, but you never know. ;)

iFeedReaders Bookmarklets Now Available

Thursday, October 26th, 2006

Two bookmarklets are now available to quickly access the iFeedreaders bookmark, or subscribe page.

Install the ‘Bookmark This’ bookmarklet and whenever you come across a webpage that you’d like to save, just hit the ‘Bookmark This’ bookmarklet and you’ll be transported, along with the page information, to the iFeedReaders bookmark page with all the pre-populated social bookmark buttons.

Install the ‘Feed This’ bookmarklet and whenever you come across a raw feed, just hit the ‘Feed This’ bookmarklet and you’ll be transported, along with the feed information, to the iFeedReaders subscribe page with all the feed subscription buttons pre-populated.

There are a few issues with the ‘Feed This’ bookmarklet as IE7 doesn’t like it at all and Safari (with RSS capabilities) doesn’t send across quite the right URL. However, it does work great in Firefox. :)

Check out the iFeedReaders bookmarklet page.

Feedback & suggestions are always welcome.

New Service Submission Form

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

Adding a feed reader or social bookmarking service just got easier; on me. :)

With the help of WuFoo, I’ve created a form to collect all the information and store it in a database so I don’t loose requests in my inbox.

If you have a service you’d like us to add, just fill out the Add This Service form and I’ll get to it when I can.

Nine New Bookmark Services Added

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

The list of social bookmark services continues to grow. Today we added nine new services to the social bookmark page. These services include:

StumbleUpon

Yardbarker (Sports)

Wykop (Polish)

PopCurrent

Mister Wong (German)

Favorri (Turkish)

Hatena (Japanese)

Diigo

Britney (Music)

Those that are already using the iFeedReaders bookmark button will immediately get to take advantage of these new buttons. They will be making their way to other tools as I get time.

Blog Specific Subscribe & Bookmark Buttons Added

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

iFeedReaders as just updated the single subscribe and bookmark buttons to include code for Blogger, WordPress and Movable Type. With the blog specific code, the buttons can be added to your templates and the code auto generated.

This is a really good thing for the social bookmark button as it can be included in the post loop and the bookmark code will be automatically generated for each post. For an example, look at the bookmark buttons below all the posts on the iFeedReaders news site.

If anyone comes across any bugs or has any questions, let me know.

Thanks

Feedshow, Fwicki, Include, Newgie and Newshutch Added

Monday, October 9th, 2006

iFeedReaders has added 5 new buttons to the subscribe page today. Those include Feedshow, Fwicki, Include, Newgie and Newshutch.

These options are automatically available for any outstanding iFeedReaders subscribe buttons.

If you haven’t created one for your site, isn’t it about time?

Feed Button WordPress Plugin Overhaul

Friday, October 6th, 2006

The Chicklet Creator WordPress plugin recently got a major update. You now have the ability to select, control and update feed buttons from within the admin panel of your WordPress blog. It’s just another way we are trying to make getting subscription buttons added to your blog easier.

New Feed Button & Social Bookmark Tools Live

Friday, September 8th, 2006

A week ago we launched the new version of the Chicklet Creator and the Social Bookmark tool. They’ve officially been moved to iFeedReaders from TwisterMc and are a part of this growing site.

Both tools now offer more services, with more services yet to come.

The Chicklet Creator comes with a few new options including a CSS drop down menu to help people save space on their blogs.

The Social Bookmark Creator also has a drop down menu, but it’s not CSS based. Instead it’s form based and works quite well.

I hope to make it though all the updated services by the end of the month and get them added to all the tools.

Also, a new version of the Chickelet Creator WordPress plugin is on the way with a much more user friendly configuration scheme.
